Adding wooden stake sides

More volume for leaves, brush, and wood.

Wooden stake sides are the simplest upgrade for bulky loads, and they don't void the WorkWagon warranty. Here's how to plan them.

Plan around the deck

Size
Deck length1,500 mm (59.1 in)
Deck width800 mm (31.5 in)

Simple approach

  • Build two long panels and two short panels from 1 × 6 boards on 2 × 2 uprights.
  • Keep sides low, around 30–45 cm (12–18 in), so the load stays stable.
  • Make panels removable so you can carry flat loads too.
  • Strap or clamp them on; don't drill into the electrical system or wiring.

Stay within the rating

Sides add volume, not capacity. The 800 kg (1,764 lb) rating still applies, and side weight counts toward it.

Common questions

Do stake sides void the warranty?

No. Wooden stake sides are fine, as long as you stay within the 800 kg (1,764 lb) rating and don't modify the electrical system.

How tall should sides be?

We suggest about 30–45 cm (12–18 in) to keep loads stable.

Can I buy ready-made sides?
